Business intelligence developers create software that helps businesses access data they’ve collected so they

can use it to make informed strategic decisions. A business intelligence developer not only creates and

manages requests for data but also presents that data to stakeholders within the company.

In today’s data-driven world, business intelligence developers must be skilled at troubleshooting and

analyzing the individual needs of software users and stakeholders. It’s vital for a business intelligence

developer to understand how people think, and how to make software easy to use. They also need the

communication skills to train users on how to use software to find the information they need.

Power BI Developer Roles and Responsibilities:

Power BI developer is responsible for handling the entire BI system and focuses on leveraging Power BI for

smart, real-time decisions.

• Understand business requirements in BI context and design data models to transform raw data

into meaningful insights

• Create dashboards and interactive visual reports using Power BI

• Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) with clear objectives and consistently monitor those

• Analyzing data and present data through reports that aid decision-making

• Convert business requirements into technical specifications and decide timeline to accomplish

• Create relationships between data and develop tabular and other multidimensional data models

• Chart creation and data documentation explaining algorithms, parameters, models, and relations

• Design, develop, test, and deploy Power BI scripts and perform detailed analytics

• Perform DAX queries and functions in Power BI

• Analyze current ETL process, define and design new systems

• Data warehouse development and work with SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS

• Redefine and make technical/strategic changes to enhance existing Business Intelligence systems

• Create customize charts and custom calculations as per requirements

• Design, develop and deploy business intelligence solutions as per needs

• SQL querying for best results, use of filters and graphs for better understanding of data

• Work with users and team members at all level for performance improvement and suggestions

Requirements:

• DAX experience – part of Power BI;

• SQL Server experience – ability to write complex queries;

• Microsoft Power BI suite (Power Query/M/DAX);

• 4-6 years experience;

• 2+ years of experience with Power BI development delivering complex reports and dashboards;

• Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration

Services (SSIS);

• Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining;

• Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude;

• Industry experience is preferred;

• Microsoft Certified Possessional (MCP)

• Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field
